About the brand: The Colombian brand Bamboleira was founded in 2015 by Natalia Sánchez . It revives the handicrafts of the Wounaan , an indigenous people from the Chocó region on Colombia's Pacific coast.
The Wounaan were displaced from their homeland during the civil war in 2003 and resettled in Bogotá. Thanks to Bamboleira, the women of this community have found work and the opportunity to preserve and develop their traditional handicrafts.
All pieces of jewelry are carefully crafted by hand. Many are decorated with a fine thread from the Werregue palm , which is also dyed and lovingly processed by hand until the unique piece is created.
The pieces, made by around 20 women, are all unique , crafted with great dedication and respect for tradition.
