About the brand: The Colombian brand Bamboleira was founded in 2015 by Natalia Sanchez. The brand is dedicated to preserving and appreciating the traditional handicrafts of the Wounaan, an indigenous community from the Chocó region on Colombia's Pacific coast. In 2003, the Wounaan were displaced from their homeland due to the civil war and resettled in Bogotá. Thanks to Bamboleira, the women of this community have found meaningful work and the opportunity to preserve and further develop their ancestral craft. All pieces of jewelry are lovingly crafted by hand, many of them decorated with fine, hand-dyed threads from the werregue palm or natural materials such as pearls. Around 20 women create these unique pieces of jewelry – each one unique, created with great care, passion, and dedication.
